Sheena Symington, B.Sc., M.A.
Sheena Symington is a Canadian advocate and researcher renowned for her work supporting individuals with Electromagnetic Radiation Syndrome (EMR-S) also known as Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity (EHS) and promoting awareness of electromagnetic pollution.
As the Director of the Electrosensitive Society, Symington has dedicated 20+ years to addressing the challenges faced by those experiencing acute reactions to electromagnetic fields (EMFs) in environments such as workplaces, schools, hospitals, and public spaces. Her work emphasizes practical solutions, such as creating low-EMF zones and educating communities on electromagnetic hygiene to improve health outcomes for EMR-S sufferers.
Symington collaborates as a Research Associate at the ROSE lab with Professor Emerita Dr. Magda Havas (Trent University), focusing on the impacts of electrosmog and electrotherapeutics. Her expertise has led her to deliver talks and workshops on maintaining electromagnetically clean environments. She provides guidance on identifying EMF sources, mitigating exposure, and accessing medical practitioners familiar with EMR-S treatment. Her efforts have helped foster community understanding and the implementation of proactive measures to support EMR-S individuals.
Symington is a qualified trainer and practitioner for auricular chromotherapy, a non-invasive treatment that aims to alleviate symptoms of anxiety, depression, and trauma without requiring patients to verbalize their experiences, making it accessible and less invasive. Her Level 1 training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) further enhances her ability to address the any psychological aspects of EMF-S and trauma, complementing her auricular chromotherapy work.
Symington’s work continues to empower those affected by EMR-S, offering hope and practical solutions while pushing for broader societal and policy changes to address electromagnetic pollution.
Topics:
Monitoring your EMF/EMR Exposure & Auricular Chromotherapy for Treating Stress and Trauma
Sheena Symington B.Sc., M.A. and Magda Havas B.Sc., Ph.D.
This workshop will focus on two topics: 1. Monitoring electromagnetic pollution including extremely low frequency electric and magnetic fields, intermediate frequencies (dirty electricity) and radio frequency/microwave exposure. A selection of meters will be demonstrated. Knowing what you are exposed to is essential if you want to practice good electromagnetic hygiene. 2. Auricular Chromotherapy (ACT) is a trauma treatment that uses light on the acupuncture points of the outer ear. These points used in this treatment are related to parts of the brain associated with the limbic system and memory. This method of trauma treatment is simple, non-invasive and does not require the patient to speak about the trauma. A 93% success rate in eliminating trauma has been documented in the scientific literature, often after one session using this method. Sheena will talk about this amazing tool and how it can be incorporated into any healthcare practice.
Electromagnetic Pollution: Sources, Consequences & Solutions.
Magda Havas B.Sc., Ph.D. and Sheena Symington B.Sc., M.A.
Our exposure to electromagnetic pollution in the form of wireless radiation as well as our use of electricity has continued to increase as more devices are able to communicate wirelessly for our convenience. The current guidelines, in most countries, do not protect public health or the health of workers exposed to these sources. Cancers, reproductive problems, as well as neurological issues referred to as Electromagnetic Radiation Syndrome are increasing among those exposed. Most medical doctors in North America are unfamiliar with EMR-syndrome and hence it continues to be misdiagnosed. It is time to take your own health into your own hands. In this presentation you will learn: 1. Sources of electromagnetic pollution within and outside your home; 2. Biological consequences of exposure to electromagnetic fields/radiation; 3. Why individuals differ in their reactions; 4. How to assess and minimize exposure to harmful frequencies; and 5. How to help them heal with an introduction to Auricular Chromotherapy a simple and effective method for stress reduction.
